Bye Bye Paci

We said good bye to Hampton's pacifier two weekends ago, and let me tell you, I LOVE having that thing gone! When Jordan got home from work on Friday afternoon, we took Hampton to Target to pick out a prize. The idea was that if he slept all night without his paci, he would get the prize Saturday morning. HA. The kid flipped when we tried to take his monster truck (his pick!) and put it in the back of the car. I finally gave in and said, "now you need to understand that the paci is going in the trash when we get home. You will not get it back if you get your prize now." I don't know if he understood, but he threw away all 3 pacifiers as soon as we got home and never looked back! He cried for about 5 minutes that first night, but other than that, it has been a really easy transition. Thank goodness because I think Jordan and I were pretty nervous about how it would all work out. Such a good kid!

We just went through all of that too. The thought of it alone was terrifying. However, as you said it was not as bad as we thought! Good job!

My son held on to his binky like it was a lifeline! We actually started out by only giving it to him during naps and when he was real fussy, but as time went on, he seemed to want it more (it went from a suckle need, to a want). My mom found the bye bye pacifier method, www.bye-bye-pacifier.com, printed it and suggested that we go with it. At first I was a bit mad at my mom, but I soon got over it. The method worked amazingly well. My son stopped sucking on it after 4 days! He proceeded to carry it around for another week, but never put it in his mouth. He then got tired of carrying it and simply lost interest. Mom was right, it worked, highly recommended!
