Hampton is 3!

Are you as shocked as me? How do I have a 3-year-old?! His birthday was on Sunday, so, obviously, we spent the whole weekend celebrating! The party started on Thursday when he celebrated at school with cupcakes. I popped in for the "party" and it was another little boy's birthday as well, so they had cupcakes and cookies! Oy! Saturday, we had breakfast at "Cracka Barrell." Then, (after a quick haircut) we went to a local dairy farm where they have lots of fun activities for kids:
a bouncy pillow thing, a corn box, live animals, a corn maize and more!

After grabbing some lunch at "Chick a way," we brought the boys home for a nap. A little play time at home, dinner at Mellow Mushroom, and ice cream at the park, and we were worn out!

We decided not to have a big party for Hampton again this year. We figure there are plenty of parties to come, so keeping it small now is the way we want to go. We met Mimi, G-dad, Nonna, Papa, Uncle Taylor and Aunt Dakota up at the park on Sunday afternoon for some cupcakes and play time. By Sunday evening, we were all pretty exhausted (and needed to eat something healthy, asap!).

We'll finish off the celebrating tomorrow with a few buddies and some Dunkin Donuts munchkins at the park. Here's to year 3! (Please, Lord, let him go easy on me!)

P.S. Pardon the crazy formatting. Blogger is on my last nerve tonight!

Say what now?

Hampton cracks us up all the time. I just wanted to get  a few things down somewhere other than my facebook page because 1. I'm pretty sure some of my friends are tired of my constant quotes from my kid. and 2. Facebook is finicky. Who knows what change they'll make tomorrow and all of my stuff will be gone! So, if you stalk me on facebook, you've already seen these. If not, enjoy!

On the way home from school today:
H- I want to watch Spy Kids before nap time.
Me- Sorry buddy, it was deleted from the DVR, so we can't watch it anymore.
H- It broke?
Me- Yes, it broke. Sorry!
H- I guess we have to go to Target!

Last night at dinner:
H- I like Mommy.
Jordan- What about Daddy?
H- I like Mommy!
Jordan- I like Hampton.
Me- Well, I like Daddy and Hampton and Colton.
H- I like every people (while pointing to all of us)!!

Mommy, don't let Colt touch my cars. I'm parking 'em, and he'll mess it up. It's just what he do!

H: Mom.
Me: Yes?
H: You're not mom. You're mommy.
Me. Ok.
H: Mom. Mom. Mom. Moooooooommmmm. Okay. Good job.

I'm so glad Hampton can be Colton's voice:
"Mommy, Colton wants some Cheerios."

"Mommy, Colton wants some milk."
"Mommy, Colton wants you to hold him so he can't play with my cars!!"

Me: Hampton, what would you like for breakfast?
H: Waffles
Me: (pulls out waffle maker)
H: Oh!! You gonna make *real* waffles for me?!

Colton's 1st bday party

For Colton's first birthday, we did a very low key party. In early spring, I ordered the cutest little sailboat jonjon, and I had the idea in my head that a sailboat party would be adorable. Thanks to pinterest, I had so many great ideas! Well, summer, and C's actual birthday, snuck up on me. A few weeks out, I had done nothing. Nothing. I called up a friend and told her that I needed some invitations and fast! She came up with such a cute invite:

Once the invites were out, I calmed down a little bit. It's not like I needed to do much. I'd make a quick trip to the store, pick up a couple of sailboats and nautical items, and that's that. We would just do a few finger foods and be done. One problem: there were no sailboats to be found. There was nothing nautical in any store that I went in. It was a week before the party, and I could find absolutely nothing to decorate with. I couldn't change the theme...the invites had already gone out!

The weekend of the party, Jordan and I went to get some plastic serving platters, food, and continue looking for decor. We decided that just sticking with red, white, and blue might be our only option. I was upset that this wonderful party I had in my head just wasn't happening, but then, I thought, "who really cares?!" When I finally let go, I remembered that I had seen a few things in Bed, Bath & Beyond and The Christmas Tree Shop earlier in the summer. Woohoo--on the morning of the party, I went to both places and found a few things that would tie this party together!

Even though it was hot, we had a nice time with family and a few friends. We're blessed to be able to celebrate this little guy being here--even if throwing him a party nearly took me over the edge!!
